Darren Christie – Founder and CEO of Developing Sustainable Directions.

Darren is a builder with over 30 years experience and owner of Baw Baw Sustainable Constructions, specialising in energy efficient design. Being environmentally conscious he is aware of the impact construction has on the environment and the need to change to a more sustainable industry. While researching sustainable materials to use in construction, Darren became aware of the potential applications of natural fibres. In light of the need to reduce atmospheric CO2 levels, Darren believes the mass growth of natural fibre crops for construction will provide an opportunity to steer the industry in a more sustainable direction. Darren believes that broad acre growth of industrial hemp in Australia will provide the construction industry with sustainable materials, create new agricultural and manufacturing industries, while helping to reverse climate change.
